Becoming a Professional Combatantby Tracy E. Barnhart
I have been asked to do a third part in this special use of force segment training articles. There is one topic that I enjoy more than no other to talk about, and that is the use of force. In this article specifically, I was asked about techniques to utilize so officers can use that actually work during restraints. My answer is that no technique that I could ever write about in a training article or that can be learned from reading this and then applied correctly. I can however, give you some basic principals that you can take away and seek out a good martial arts program in order to gain further knowledge. full story

Personal Phone Calls
In4awhile: My wife works for the local county and I’m at a private prison. My supervisor says that I can not get a call from my wife unless it is an “emergency”. You can’t have a cell phone in the prison so how do I know if my wife not getting home is my emergency? She is day shift and I’m swings. Anyone seen this before?
shakey: It’s the same here as a state Correctional Officer in Ohio, no cell phones or outside calls unless it’s an emergency and then it has to go thru the Capt’s office before it gets to you.
Mick: With us it’s the same with mobiles. But Officers can receive calls anywhere in the prison via the control room and have access payphones in the Officers mess and main hall. full thread
