Licking County jail inmate dies at hospital after apparent medical emergency

NEWARK - An inmate at the Licking County Justice Center died Wednesday morning after an apparent medical emergency.

Captain Chris Barbuto said 55-year-old Toni Moore was taken to Licking Memorial Hospital by paramedics after suffering some type of medical emergency around 5:15 a.m. Wednsday.

Moore died at the hospital.

Barbuto said there did not appear to be any signs of foul play or of Moore trying to harm herself.

An autopsy will be performed by the Montgomery County Coroner's Office to determine Moore's cause of death. The autopsy will be performed by Montgomery County because Licking County Coroner Dr. Richard Campolo also serves as the jail's physician.
