Prison inmates receive gift bags for Christmas |

Thousands of inmates are getting a bit of Christmas cheer this season through gift bags that were distributed to 21 S.C. Department of Corrections institutions Tuesday. The prison system, in partnership with the Southern Baptist Convention, the S.C. Women’s Missionary Union and churches across the state, gathered donations that were given out as gifts to adult inmates. The Christmas Packages for Prisoners program has been going on for more than 40 years. Pre-approved items such as pens, writing tablets, envelopes, toothbrushes and toothpaste were put in plastic bags and sent to the Department of Corrections. Read More. |
