Carl Robinson Escapee in Custody |
By State of Connecticut Department of Corrections |
Published: 01/18/2018 |
Inmate Jerry Mercado has been apprehended following an escape from Enfield’s Carl Robinson Correctional Institution on Sunday January 7, 2018. A full scale search and investigation by multiple public safety agencies/departments resulted in Mercado’s capture earlier today by the Canton Georgia Police Department. A tip received by the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force was quickly communicated with law enforcement in Georgia which led to Mercado’s location at a Canton gas station. Once returned to the state, escapee Mercado will be transported to the Northern Correctional Institution where he will be referred for placement on the agency’s highest level of supervision known as Administrative Segregation. We credit the diligent efforts by the Department of Correction’s Fugitive Investigation Unit and our partners from the Connecticut Department of Emergency Services and Public Protection, Hartford Police Department, the U.S. Marshals, and the Canton Georgia Police Department for their collaboration during this ten-day search. |
