| Satellite-jail inmate gets 3.5 years for hitting correctional officer |

URBANA — A Champaign man who admitted hitting a correctional officer because he didn't want to be moved has been sentenced to three-and-a-half years in prison. Judge Tom Difanis sentenced Jayvon Nichols-Pelmore, 19, of the 3200 block of Ridgewood Drive, last week for aggravated battery to a peace officer. Nichols-Pelmore had pleaded guilty to that offense in August. Assistant State's Attorney Bridget Schott said the charge stemmed from an incident June 12 at the satellite jail in east Urbana.
