Condemned Inmate Jose Francisco Guerra Dies |

SAN QUENTIN – Condemned inmate Jose Francisco Guerra, 61, was pronounced deceased on Jan. 4 at 3:01 p.m. after being found unresponsive in his cell. An exact cause of death will be determined by the Marin County Coroner. During a housing check on Jan. 4 at approximately 2:15 p.m., correctional staff noticed Guerra was unresponsive in his single cell. An alarm was sounded and staff began immediate life-saving measures. Central Marin Fire Department arrived and took over medical care but were unsuccessful and Guerra was pronounced deceased. Guerra was received from Los Angeles County and housed on death row since Dec. 6, 1993. He was convicted of the first-degree murder while armed with a firearm.
