I think it is annoying when you work at a female institution and you have a person with multiple sexual battery charges, kidnapping a minor for ransom and a host of other convictions picking up inmates on a routine basis. When you point out to the supervisors that these inmates are all going to the same address, and you google the phone number in the computer system at work and show your supervisors that the phone number for the guy picking the inmates up shows dozens of prostitution ads on the internet and the supervisors could care less that they are being trafficked. When my agency cares that inmates with no place to go are being recruited by other inmates and being trafficked the second they walk out the gate and 100 percent of them are coming back to prison in a year or so, then I will stop to consider that my agency takes reentry seriously.

I work at a prison where there are juveniles from as young as 14. It is amazing how the administration could care less about inmates tattooing each other. If you are a parent and your kid gets locked up at 16 and you pick him up from prison when he gets out in a year or 2 and he or she has 6 or 7 tattoos on their arms, hands etc… what does that tell the parent about your facility?

I think it tells the people picking up their kids that we are running a day care not a “correctional facility”

We have female inmates in our prison who are recruiters for human traffickers who are gang members on the streets. When a female inmate gets out if she has no place to go inmates refer those inmates to “this guy I know who can give you a place to stay” and they end up in force prostitution rings.

I work at a women’s prison and although they are “not like the men”. They are certainly present in women’s facilities. They are less violent but the stuff they do is just as criminal as any male facility. We have Latin Queens, Bloods, Crips, old ladies of outlaw bikers. There are no shortage of female gang members or boyfriends of gang members in women’s prisons. They are severely underestimated.
