Topic: Health & Wellness / Mindset

Hi,

I am new here, my name is Mike.

I would like to get your view here on a very simple, but under-discussed topic – a person’s mindset.

Mindset or attitude are what determine, in a smaller or bigger measure your path in life. Your mindset is instilled from early childhood by your family and educators and often times manifests itself (without you even realizing) as self-talk. It is how you interpret what happens to you, how you plan out what to do in the future and has a huge impact on your personality.

So why should you care about all this?

Because correctional staff and officers need to have a stronger mindset than most of us. Because people that are processed thru the correctional system ended up there because they had the wrong attitude. Also, it the case of the juvenile jam, something might be possible to be changed?

Why do I care?

I am a contributor to a new website – Survival Report. I wrote an article about the importance of a strong mindset in a survival situation – https://survivalreport.org/develop-survivor-mindset/

Since it is very hard to get quality feedback and data about this topic, I would like to get your take on the importance of a good mindset in your field of work. How would you change the education system to cultivate a better, stronger mindset for young people that come from challenging backgrounds? How do you maintain your own mental strengths and what or who could make that job easier for you.

I am hoping to get some answers that will help me improve the Survival Mindset article or even start me with writing a new one.

Thank you.
